Lately I have been writing footnotes to previous preoccupations, which I don't wish to share with the world that seems mostly to respond to them with spam advertisements, not always in English.

It is possible, for those who are truly interested, to set up a free LiveJournal account for the sake of registering as an LJ friend, though I am no longer clear on how you inform me that you have friended me and wish the courtesy of the same, giving you access to at least some of my restricted posts.

You get a notification from LJ when somebody friends you - if you have email notifications of journal activity, you'll get a mail, but it's also the home page after you sign in (I think it counts as an item in your inbox.) Then you have the option of returning the 'friending'.
