The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2011) is one of those monumental enterprises in which the footnote-essays of the annotators of PKD’s tortuous (and torturous) explorations of the meaning of his mystical and/or psychotic experiences (Erik Davis and Jeffrey J. Kripal in particular) become entry points into their own labyrinthine thought-worlds. The Exegesis of the Exegesis of Philip K. Dick that their notes contribute is in danger of generating, from some of us, The Exegesis of the Exegesis of the Exegesis of Philip K. Dick.
