Sep. 20th, 2011 08:42 amSince I feel the need periodically to give people the chance to laugh and point at my own artmaking practice, here is a more-or-less-actual-size image of an acrylic on found wood piece. The title, A Bouquet for George Kuchar, ought not to be overinterpreted; the work is intended as a gift for someone who studied under Kuchar at the San Francisco Art Institute, and I respect what Kuchar did for avant-garde film even though I have never seen a single one of his movies.
I find suitable supports for paintings (a.k.a. time-worn pieces of wood of the right size and shape, thin, more or less sized to be held in the hand, and rectangular like the personal icons carried by the Eastern Orthodox) I had better go back to dreaming up conceptual works to donate to art auctions.
