I was getting ready to write an enthusiastic post about the virtues of James Mauro’s new book on the 1939 World’s Fair, Twilight at the World of Tomorrow, and why it is better than so many books on the topic, when I realized I had better explain the premises behind all of these posts. I may seem to have done that endlessly already, but I haven’t justified my approach (not lately, anyway) to the widely varied topics.
