Douglas Coupland's novel Generation A features ( spoilers )

imagine my embarrassment

I now see that one reason nobody has commented is that before I could even write my column and get it posted, I was scooped by the NY Times. I have just got round to reading the following, which was sitting on my doorstep and in cyberspace all the while that I was writing furiously. However, the column in the NY Times that appeared at the very moment that I was writing my own column does not address the same phenomenon at all. I'm concerned with what the stuff is doing right this minute to grownups, not to the next generation of children:
