an edifying lesson for the day

Actually, I wrote this several days ago and was too embarrassed by it to post, and today, I would prefer to recall with happiness those elderly African-American women on the MARTA train who were singing, not the day after the election, but the day after the nomination, "There's gonna be a black man in the White House."

But I shall post my allegory for the new day regardless:
