I hadn't yet encountered this concept or the quotes in this post when I wrote the other post two days ago, much less the LJ discussion group I still haven't looked up (which I also didn't know about when I wrote this earlier this morning, since I just now read the comments):

I also discovered last night that this is René Daumal's centenary year, the actual date having been March 16. My posts of the day were germane to the occasion without my being consciously aware of it (given my defective memory, I might have made this particular discovery repeatedly) but to borrow Vladimir Nabokov's quip once again, finding Daumal-like entries in my LJ is like finding references to large cetaceans in Moby Dick.

Whereas there are fewer than a dozen online references to Paul Ekman's Extraordinary Persons Project, one of which is mine (thus indicating that Google is not a respecter of LJ-cuts), and none of the others are from sources I would trust unreservedly, either. The lack of any reference on his own self-promoting website makes me suspicious, even though Jeff Warren's book uses a direct quote seemingly from Ekman himself.

One more little historical mystery to explore in my spare time in lieu of earning an adequate income.

It occurs to me that the younger readers of this LJ may not get the reference to The Graduate in the preceding subject line, although the film did get some press on its anniversary.
