The length of an exchange on a friends-only follow-up to "The New Fluidity" makes me realize how quickly discussions of art and technology turn into specialized discourses, as much as informal discussions about topics in physics or any other in-group conversation.

So I think I shall have to start a set of Counterforces discussions over on blogspot about various artists whom I think have not got their due, whether living or dead, whether art-school-trained or self-taught, outsider, insider, or besider.

I owe various people essays on Karolina Borchardt, Mildred Thompson, and Romeo Alaeff, who have nothing in common except that fact, though I suppose all three also bridge contrary cultures in an interesting fashion, unlike those who grew up comfortably within one country or religion or social order and stayed there.

Whereas next month all of us LJers will have to gather round Ron Drummond's wondrous anniversary edition of John Crowley's Little, Big and celebrate the accomplishment of a writer who has gotten fame and recognition but not nearly enough of it.
