Not only do we have Poussin's Shepherds of Arcady as part of Louvre Atlanta through the summer, the "Judah, son of Jesus" ossuary from the Talpiot tomb is coming to the Carlos Museum on June 16.

Before reading the museum's press release a few minutes ago, I had originally intended to post only a query / reflection on whether Murakami has been influenced by John Crowley, since Murakami is so enamored of Western culture's past and present that I cannot believe he would not have read both Little, Big and Aegypt. Being a latecomer to Murakami, I can't tell whether the faint echoes I encounter are because both writers draw upon and transmute both history and folklore, or something more is going on. In any case, Murakami is his own distinct self, but I'm still looking for Overlook Press marketing hooks, so I tend towards overinterpretation. (I leave it to utopyr to add the obvious wisecrack that should follow.)

As Kafka on the Shore has it, "There are just too many coincidences."
